This past Presbytery meeting represented a plethora of doings. Folks got to see where their mission money is spent and to even benefit from some of the offerings (no, not just the halloween candy!) from some of the displays. The fair was an opportunity to experience first hand the things we at New Castle Presbytery consider valuable. She’s upstairs, downstairs, late for school, looking for shoes, playing when she should be getting dressed; you get the picture. Her response is always “I’M DOING SOMETHING!” As frustrated as I get, I always find her doing something that is very important to her, something that has great value. Eight out of ten times, once I find out, I can usually appreciate her busyness, even if it is not what I would be doing at ten minutes before the school bus leaves!
The Presbytery staff and coordinators from RCCPC did a wonderful job streamlining the process so that each booth was accessible and visible. Hearing It Directly
Several Presbyterian women had the opportunity to hear Monique Misenga,International Peacemakerin September tell about poverty in the Congo. It was moving. Sketching a historical background for the backdrop, she explained that the infrastructure was destroyed and numerous challenges exist. Families strive to have one meal a day. Education is provided for those who can pay. Conditions are heartbreaking. She assist women in setting up small business to provide food for the families. Churches are able to assist some as well with education. She had handmade products such as necklaces, tops and linens for sale. Women eagerly made purchases and gave donations. Supporting the Presbyterian Women Palm Project took on a deeper meaning. We were glad we made the trip to Dover to hear from our sister how we can help the Congo grow.
