Why we do it:  What inspires

and motivates us?

Why do we do what we do?  Why do we go to church?  Why do we give time and money to mission work?  Why do we worship in the name of Jesus?  Some Christians may say:  Because we've always done these things; or, because we were taught this way.   This is simply our tradition.

Well, If we want others to understand our reasons for following Jesus, such answers will not suffice in a pluralistic marketplace.  The answer to the question why we should be who we are, and do what we do, is no longer obvious to many.  The question deserves careful thought as well as a heartfelt response.

That's why this section of New Castle Presbytery's web home is devoted to answering that question:  Why do we do what we do?

I invite my fellow Presbyterians to contribute to this section.  Perhaps you have written a poem, or a sermon, or a letter.  Perhaps you have painted a picture, or written a song that speaks to the question.  Please send your answer to our webmaster, so that we can post it here.

To get the ball rolling, I'll share a sermon called "Why Be Christian?".  I realize that my answer to the question is not everyone's.  I 'm sure there are many, many answers.  Let's share them!  Let's publish some reasons for our devotion to the One we call Christ.
